Subdivision 1.Service pensions based on years of service. A relief association must provide service pensions or retirement benefits to its members based on the years of service of the members, not on the compensation paid to the members for their service. Subd. 2.Penalty for violation. If a relief association violates subdivision 1, the affiliated municipality or municipalities must not be included in the apportionment of fire state aid and police and firefighter retirement supplemental state aid payable under chapter 477B and section423A.022and in the apportionment of fire state aid to the various municipalities under section477B.03. Subd.
