Text

Subdivision 1.General authority.

(a)The director, with the approval of the governor, is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement on behalf of the state, its political subdivisions, and its other governmental employers, with the federal Secretary of Health and Human Services, consistent with the terms and provisions of this chapter, for the purpose of extending the benefits of the federal old age, survivors, and disability insurance system to employees of the state or any political subdivision thereof who hold positions covered by a retirement system with respect to services specified in the agreement which constitute "employment."
(b)The agreement may contain those provisions relating to coverage, benefits, contributions, effective date, modification and termination of the agreement
