Subdivision 1.Cancellation of license. The board shall not renew, reissue, reinstate, or restore a license that has lapsed and has not been renewed within two annual renewal cycles. A licensee whose license is canceled for nonrenewal must obtain a new license by applying for licensure and fulfilling all requirements then in existence for an initial license to practice as a physician assistant. Subd. 2.Licensure following lapse of licensed status; transition.

(a)A licensee whose license has lapsed under subdivision 1 before January 1, 2020, and who seeks to regain licensed status after January 1, 2020, shall be treated as a first-time licensee only for purposes of establishing a license renewal schedule, and shall not be subject to the license cycle conversion provisions in section147A.2
