Subdivision 1.Spiritual means for healing. Sections144A.04, subdivision 5, and144A.18to144A.27, and rules adopted under sections144A.01to144A.155other than a rule relating to sanitation and safety of premises, to cleanliness of operation, or to physical equipment do not apply to a nursing home conducted by and for the adherents of any recognized church or religious denomination for the purpose of providing care and treatment for those who select and depend upon spiritual means through prayer alone, in lieu of medical care, for healing. Subd. 2.Religious society or order. The provisions of sections144A.01to144A.27shall not apply to a facility operated by a religious society or order to provide nursing care to 20 or fewer nonlay members of the order or society.
