WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ACT (EXCERPT) Act 283 of 1964 290.609a Weighing device; measuring device; certificates of conformance; participating laboratory. Sec. 9a.

(1)A weighing device placed in service after January 1, 1988 must have valid certificates of conformance before use for commercial or law enforcement purposes. A non-NTEP weighing device for special use may be used for products for which an NTEP weighing device is not readily available, if all of the following conditions are met:
(a)The device owner receives written approval from the director.
(b)The device is tested on an annual basis by a registered service agency.
(c)The registered service agency records all testing data and the records are retained on site and made available to the department on request.
