Section 17M. A deduction on a payroll schedule may be made from the salary of an employee of the department of state police in the amount of $3 per pay period for the payment of a contribution to Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center, Inc. A deduction under this section shall not be used in whole or in part for a political purpose. Authorization for the deduction shall be made by the employee in writing to the officer or head of the department and withdrawal of the authorization shall be made by a 60 day written notice to the officer or head of the department. The state treasurer shall deduct the contribution from the salary of the employee and transmit the sum to the treasurer of the Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center, Inc.
