§541. Purchasers and carriers; records of purchases and shipments All purchasers of green or salted hides and all common carriers receiving for sale or shipment, green or salted hides, shall demand and receive of the seller or shipper, a full description of all marks and brands on such hides which shall be verified by the purchaser or common carrier and such purchaser or common carrier shall keep a record of such sales or shipments if the sale or shipment does not exceed five hides, with a description of the marks and brands. This record shall at all times be open for public inspection and preserved for a period of three months from its date.
