§234.1. Disposition of undeliverable assistance checks
Assistance checks representing bonus amounts paid pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 657 and
such checks representing refunds paid pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 657 in those cases in which the
payee of such checks cannot be found, shall revert to the state and federal treasuries in
proportion to the rate of state-federal match applicable to the assistance program. Such
amounts will revert to the government only after sixty days have elapsed since the date such
checks became invalid and a diligent search by the agency administering the assistance
program has failed to ascertain the whereabouts of the payee.
