§ 45:355 — Repair of cars in state; penalty

All railway or railroad corporations operating in Louisiana, and having their repair shops within the state, as a condition precedent to exercising the right of expropriation, shall repair, renovate or rebuild in Louisiana any and all defective or broken cars, coaches, locomotives or other equipment, owned or leased by the corporation when such rolling stock is within the state. Railroads shall maintain proper facilities in Louisiana to do such work. Nothing in this Section shall be construed to require any railway company to violate the safety appliance acts of Congress, and no railway company shall be required to haul such disabled equipment a greater distance for repairs to a point in Louisiana than would be necessary to reach repair shops in another state.
