§301. Default in settlement of arrears; suspension from office Whenever the State Auditor, or the governing authority of any parish, notifies the governor, that any public officer charged with the collection or custody of public funds, is in arrears, the governor shall make immediate demand upon that officer for settlement within a delay not exceeding ten days, and in default of his making full settlement within that delay, the governor shall at once suspend him from office.
