A.Any school bus driver knowingly operating a school bus and any owner of a school bus allowing it to be operated when such school bus is not covered by the security required by R.S. 32:861 shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than five hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars.
B.If a school bus is involved in an accident within this state, and it is not covered by the security required by R.S. 32:861, the owner thereof shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than five hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars and shall have the registration of the vehicle revoked for a period of sixty days. The school bus driver who was operating the vehicle with the knowledge that it was not insured shall have his commercial driver's license privileges disqualified for a perio
