§31. Permitting gas well to go wild or burn prohibited; capping or plugging; notice No person shall negligently permit a natural gas well to become uncontrollable, or to wastefully burn. The owner, or person in possession of such a well shall prevent waste by escape or burning by securely closing the well by cap or plug or in any other fashion after five days written notice to do so. This notice may be given by any person with an interest in stopping the waste or, by a constable or justice of the peace of the parish wherein the well is located.
