§2472. Sterilization required A. Provisions shall be made for the sterilization of all dogs and cats sold or released for adoption or purchased from any public or private animal shelter or animal control agency operated by a humane society or by a parish, city, or other political subdivision by either:
(1)Providing sterilization by a Louisiana licensed veterinarian or an individual that
meets the qualifications contained in R.S. 37:1514(2) provided that individual is in their
fourth year or the second semester of their third year of veterinary school before
relinquishing custody of the animal.
(2)Entering into a written agreement with the adopter or purchaser guaranteeing that
sterilization will be performed by a Louisiana licensed veterinarian or an individual that
meets the qualificati
