§440.3. School coaches; required certifications A. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, any high school employee who serves as a coach for the school shall obtain and maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and automatic external defibrillator use. The certification shall be consistent with the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or other national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care guidelines. B. The provisions of R.S. 9:2793 shall apply to any coach who is certified pursuant to this Section and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation or first aid or uses an automatic external defibrillator in his capacity as a school coach.
