§ 17:2001 — Continuation of existing schools

Those schools in existence at the time of the effective date of this act shall continue in operation unless the State Board of Education, based on criteria, determines that the need for such school no longer exists. Should the board decide to close any school, it shall have authority to dispose of the land and improvements in accordance with state law, and the proceeds derived from such disposition shall be paid to the board and shall be made available by the board for retirement of outstanding bonds issued under Act 209 of the 1973 Regular Session or for capital improvements authorized by Act 209 of the 1973 Regular Session at postsecondary vocational-technical schools, for purchase of equipment for extension programs of postsecondary vocational-technical schools, and/or for purchase of v
