§1970.1. Legislative intent
It is the intent of the legislature to establish a college-based residential school for
certain high school students with the express purpose of providing a more challenging
educational experience and a more enriched creative environment for the children of this
state who have a demonstrated talent for and interest in pursuing the creative and performing
arts and of developing such children to their full potential. This school will serve only as a
magnet school for the arts, and not as a magnet school for mathematics nor the sciences.
There shall be no duplication of programs already offered by the Jimmy D. Long, Sr.
