The governing authority of the parish of St. Bernard shall annually, and at the same time it prepares its general budget, budget an amount sufficient to pay the salaries and expenses of the office of the district attorney of the Thirty-Fourth Judicial District provided for in R.S. 16:6 and as hereinabove set forth. The amount budgeted shall be paid to the district attorney, ten days after the adoption of the budget by the governing authority, who shall deposit same in a special account called the "district attorney's general fund" and shall be administered by the district attorney to pay the salaries and expenses authorized by law.
