Text
A.The district court in any parish which is also contained within the jurisdiction of any juvenile detention center may levy special costs in the amount of fifty dollars against every defendant who is convicted of a felony after trial or who enters a plea of guilty or nolo contendere or forfeits bond, excluding traffic offenses and misdemeanors.
B.However, in lieu of imposing such special costs, the court may direct that a like amount be deducted from any fine imposed prior to disposition of the fine in accordance with law. In either event, any amounts so collected shall be remitted, by the tenth of the month following the month in which collected, by the proper officer of the court to the juvenile detention center in the parish in which the court resides to be used for the expenses of i
