§2152. Salaries and expenses of judges; payment

A.The salary of each of the judges of the First City Court of the City of New Orleans shall be the same as provided for district court judges in the state, payable monthly on their own respective warrants, of which the amount payable by the state to city judges of the state shall be paid by the state, and the remainder shall be payable out of the Judicial Expense Fund of the Parish of Orleans; provided that the term of the said court shall be twelve months per year with the judges of the court fixing their own personal vacations of not more than thirty days per annum.

B.The salary of the judge of the Second City Court of the city of New Orleans, who is also judge of Section D of the first city court, shall be the same as and payable in the

A. The salary of each of the judges of the First City Court of the City of New Orleans
shall be the same as provided for district court judges in the state, payable monthly on their
own respective warrants, of which the amount payable by the state to city judges of the state
shall be paid by the state, and the remainder shall be payable out of the Judicial Expense
Fund of the Parish of Orleans; provided that the term of the said court shall be twelve months
per year with the judges of the court fixing their own personal vacations of not more than

B. The salary of the judge of the Second City Court of the city of New Orleans, who
is also judge of Section D of the first city court, shall be the same as and payable in the same
manner and from the same sources as the judges of the first city court.
C. Notwithstanding any other provision of the law to the contrary, the judges of the
First and Second City Courts of the city of New Orleans shall not engage in the practice of
law or share in the profits, directly or indirectly, of any law firm or legal corporation, except
any judge may serve as the attorney member of a medical review panel pursuant to R.S.
40:1231.8 or 1237.2.
D. In addition to their salaries, each judge of the First and Second City Courts of the
city of New Orleans shall be reimbursed in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars
per annum for travel and actual expenses incurred while attending meetings, seminars, and
other official functions in performing the duties of their office. This allowance shall be
payable out of the Judicial Expense Fund of the parish of Orleans upon the warrant of the
said judges of the First and Second City Courts of the city of New Orleans, together with an
accounting of disbursements.
