§ 11:779 — Allowance on disability retirement; members hired on or before December 31, 2010

A. The provisions of this Section shall apply to members whose first employment making them eligible for membership in one of the state systems occurred on or before December 31, 2010. B.

(1)Upon retirement for disability, a member shall receive a disability retirement allowance equal to two and one-half percent of his average compensation multiplied by his years of creditable service, but not more than fifty percent of his average compensation. In no event shall such disability retirement allowance be less than the lesser of forty percent of the state minimum salary for a beginning teacher with a bachelor's degree, or seventy-five percent of his average compensation. Such retiree shall not be allowed an optional allowance.
