§ 11:3293 — Pensions and benefits

Pensions and benefits payable out of the fund shall be as follows:

(1)If a member of the fund acquires a disability for causes not arising or developing directly from his employment in the fire department and for which he is, therefore, unable to collect compensation under the worker's compensation laws of Louisiana, the fireman shall, upon being found to have such disability by the board of directors, be paid monthly so long as disability continues, a sum equal to forty-five percent of the salary earned by the employees who have served up to and including ten years. Employees who have served for a period of eleven years shall receive forty-six percent. Employees who have served for a period of twelve years shall receive forty-seven percent.
