A.Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, any person who is now or who hereafter is elected to public office and who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System or any other retirement system for public employees which is supported in whole or in part out of funds of the state of Louisiana or of any parish, municipality, or other political subdivision thereof and who loses any one or more months of creditable service in such system or systems by reason of the adoption of Act 569 of 1966 or any other legislation heretofore or hereafter enacted which shortens or has the effect of shortening a term of office to which such person is elected shall be granted a credit in such retirement system or systems equal to the creditable se
