The township board of any township located in a county having a population of more than twenty-two thousand five hundred (22,500) and less than twenty-three thousand five hundred (23,500) which has an assessed valuation of more than seventy million dollars ($70,000,000) is hereby authorized to contract with any fire district having the same geographic territory and common boundaries with those of the township for the furnishing of fire-fighting services in such township and the governing body of any such fire district is hereby authorized to contract with such township for such purpose.
