Text
If the person executing the same or his or her assigns cannot be found within two years subsequent to such payment or satisfaction, the register of deeds shall destroy the chattel mortgages or other instruments of writing remaining in his or her office by burning the same in the presence of the county commissioners, a note or list of the instruments to be destroyed having been entered in the index book for chattel mortgages.
