Text

The district court shall have jurisdiction over a landlord or tenant with respect to conduct in this state governed by this act or with respect to any claim arising from a transaction subject to this act, and notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (b) of K.S.A. 61-2802, and amendments thereto, such actions may be commenced pursuant to the code of civil procedure for limited actions. Unless otherwise specifically provided in this act, the code of civil procedure for limited actions shall govern any action commenced pursuant to this act. If the relief sought is beyond the jurisdiction of a district magistrate judge as provided in K.S.A. 20-302b, and amendments thereto, the action shall be heard by a district judge.
