If any track buyer of live poultry, any truck buyer of live poultry, any trader in live poultry, and any local buyer of or dealer in live poultry shall neglect or refuse to keep and preserve such memoranda, and produce such memoranda on the demand of any peace officer to whom a theft of poultry has been reported, he or she shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction in any court of competent jurisdiction shall be fined in a sum not exceeding $100 or be imprisoned not exceeding thirty days in the county jail or both such fine and imprisonment.
