It shall be the duty of the superintendent and officers to keep and preserve the peace and, for such purpose such superintendent and officers are hereby vested with the power and authority of peace and police officers in the execution of the duties imposed upon them under the provisions of this act. All powers and duties now or hereafter conferred and imposed upon the sheriff and deputies and constables of any county adopting the provisions of this act and the city marshal or chief of police and police officers of cities located within such county, relating to the enforcement of the laws of the state, resolutions of the board of county commissioners and ordinances of the cities located within such county, the authority for the enforcement of which has been transferred to and vested in the
