Text

(a)Whenever a petition signed by one thousand (1,000) qualified electors of an urban area county shall be presented to the board of county commissioners of such county, requesting the creation of a county sports authority in such county, said board shall hold a public hearing on the petition. The board shall give notice of the hearing by publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the county once each week for two (2) consecutive weeks. Such notice shall state the time, location and purpose of such hearing, but the date set for the hearing shall not be more than thirty (30) days from the date said petition is presented to the board. If necessary, the hearing may be continued by resolution of the board.
