Any vacancy created in the Kansas City area transportation authority, created by compact between the states of Kansas and Missouri, shall be filled as follows: Within thirty (30) days after a vacancy occurs in a commissioner position that was originally the appointment of the mayor of Kansas City, Kansas, a successor shall be appointed by the mayor of Kansas City, Kansas, with the approval of a majority of the members of the city commission of Kansas City, Kansas. Within thirty (30) days after a vacancy occurs in a commissioner position that was originally the appointment of the governor, a successor shall be appointed by the board of county commissioners of the county from which the former commissioner was appointed.
