Any community museum board may appoint and fix the compensation of a supervisor or curator for the community historical museum. Said supervisor or curator shall have charge of the care, maintenance, supervision, establishment of the museum, its displays, historical collections and such other duties in connection therewith as said board may require. If there is an incorporated museum or an incorporated historical or similar society within the community, such society may be designated by said board as the supervisor or curator of said museum and said board may provide to the society such compensation, funds or reimbursements for establishing, operating, maintaining and caring for the museum and its collections or displays as shall be agreed upon by the board and the society.
