Text

(a)There is hereby created a civil rights commission composed of seven (7) members, not more than four (4) of whom shall be members of the same political party, to be appointed by the governor. In making such appointments, the governor shall take into consideration all interests in the community including but not limited to the interests of minority groups, employers, labor, and the public.
(b)Except as provided in IC 4-21.5-2, IC 4-21.5 applies to the commission.
(c)Successors to all members of the commission shall be appointed for terms of four (4) years, excepting when appointed to fill a vacancy, in which case such appointment shall be for the unexpired term.
(d)Members of the commission may be removed by the governor for cause but for no other reason.
