Text

(a)Claims for benefits shall be made in accordance with rules adopted by the department. The department shall adopt reasonable procedures consistent with the provisions of this article for the expediting of the taking of claims of individuals for benefits in instances of mass layoffs by employers, the purpose of which shall be to minimize the amount of time required for such individuals to file claims upon becoming unemployed as the result of such mass layoffs.
(b)Except when the result would be inconsistent with the other provisions of this article, as provided in the rules of the department, the provisions of this article which apply to claims for, or the payment of, regular benefits shall apply to claims for, and the payment of, extended benefits.
