§ 16-46-17-4 — Chairperson; appointment; qualifications

(a)Beginning July 1, 2026, a chairperson
shall be elected by the council members at the first meeting after July
1 every even-numbered year. If a vacancy occurs in the position of a
member who is the chairperson, the council shall elect a member to
serve the remainder of the chairperson's term at the next meeting of the
council.
(b)The chairperson may not be a state employee.
(c)Before August 1, 2023, the governor shall appoint the
chairperson of the council.
(d)The chairperson must meet one (1) of the qualifications of a
member under section 5(b) of this chapter. This subsection expires July
1, 2026.
