Text

The department may temporarily release an offender from a correctional facility or program for a designated purpose and period of time, in Indiana, either alone or accompanied by a department employee or other custodial agent:

(1)to attend or make arrangements for attending an academic or vocational training institution or program, including attendance in a public school;
(2)to obtain or make arrangements for obtaining medical, psychiatric, or psychological services, including treatment for drug addiction or alcoholism;
(3)to work or make arrangements for employment;
(4)to visit a close relative who is seriously ill;
(5)to visit his immediate family;
(6)to attend the funeral of a close relative;
(7)to make preparations for release or discharge;
(8)for recreational purposes;
