§ 2TTT — Standard services

(a) It is not a fraudulent, unfair, or deceptive act or practice under this Act to differentiate prices for services based upon factors that include, but are not limited to, amount of time, difficulty, cost of providing the services, methods, procedure, or equipment used to accomplish the service, upon the qualifications, experience, or expertise of the individual or business providing the services, market conditions specific to the service or the business, or geographic region where the services are completed or the business is located. (b) The following sellers shall provide the consumer with a standard services price list upon request: (1) Tailors or businesses providing aftermarket clothing alterations. (2) Barbershops or hair salons. (3) Dry cleaners and laundries providing services to individuals. The price list may be provided in any format and may be based on customary industry pricing practices. As used in this subsection, "standard service" means the 10 most frequently requested services provided by the seller. (c) If a seller identified in subsection (b) is found to be in violation of this Section, the seller shall have 30 days to remedy the violation. Upon a second or subsequent violation within 2 years after the 30-day remediation period, the seller shall be liable for penalties pursuant to Section 7 of this Act.
