A law enforcement agency shall, within 15 days of receipt of a written request for a police report made to verify that the requirements of a crime victims compensation application under Section 6.1 of this Act have been met, provide the Attorney General's office with the law enforcement agency's full written report of the investigation of the crime for which an application for compensation has been filed. The law enforcement agency may redact the following from the report: names of confidential sources and informants; locations from which law enforcement conduct surveillance; and information related to issues of national security the law enforcement agency provided to or received from the United States Department of Homeland Security or another federal law enforcement agency.
