§ 7-2-12

All suits pending in any court on behalf of or against any municipality, when it becomes a borough of a united city, may be prosecuted or defended in the name of the municipality. Judgments in favor of the municipality may be collected or enforced in the name of the municipality but the proceeds shall be paid over to the treasurer of the united city.
