Abandoning community building project; petition; referendum; transfer of moneys.

(a)Upon the petition of not fewer than 50 owners or life tenants of real estate of any township that has adopted the provisions of this Article and provided a fund for community building purposes, the question of abandoning the project to purchase, erect, equip, remodel, or renovate a community building and of devoting the fund to some other purpose, shall be submitted to the legal voters of the township at an election. The board shall certify the question to the proper election officials, who shall submit the proposition at an election in accordance with the general election law.
