(Section scheduled to be repealed on December 31, 2027) Sec. 17.5. Statewide 9-1-1 Call Directory.

(a)The General Assembly finds the following:
(1)Some 9-1-1 systems throughout this State do not have a procedure in place to manually transfer 9-1-1 calls originating within one 9-1-1 system's jurisdiction, but which should properly be answered and dispatched by another 9-1-1 system, to the appropriate 9-1-1 system for answering and dispatching first responders.
(2)On January 1, 2016, the General Assembly gave oversight authority of 9-1-1 systems to the Illinois State Police.
(3)Since that date, the Illinois State Police has authorized individual 9-1-1 systems in counties and municipalities to implement and upgrade 9-1-1 systems throughout the State.
