Text

(a)A third party shall not refer a taxpayer to the Department for audit consideration unless the third party is registered with the Department pursuant to Section 5-35.
(b)If, based on a review of the financial information provided by the Department to a municipality or county, or provided by a municipality or county to a registered third party, the municipality or county discovers that a taxpayer may have underpaid local retailers' or service occupation taxes, then it may refer the matter to the Department for audit consideration.
