§ 9

Whenever electors, equal in number to at least 10% of the total votes cast for the office on which the greatest total number of votes were cast at the last preceding general governmental unit election, of a governmental unit which has adopted the taxing provisions of this Act, present a petition to the clerk of the governmental unit, requesting that the levying of a tax annually in such governmental unit for the purpose of providing community mental health facilities and services be discontinued, the clerk shall certify the proposition to the proper election officials for submission at a regular election in accordance with the general election law.
