Beginning July 1, 2024, the Department of Early Childhood shall collaborate with the Illinois State Board of Education on administration of the early childhood programs established in Sections 1C-2, 2-3.71, 2-3.71a, and 2-3.89 of the School Code. The Department of Early Childhood and the Illinois State Board of Education shall plan for the transfer of administrative responsibilities that will occur on and after July 1, 2026.
