Air compressors, whether fixed or portable, for compressing air to be used in breaking down coal or other materials, may be located underground if the compressor has adequate cooling devices which prevent the creation of excessive temperatures in the machine and, in gassy mines, if the compressor is equipped with permissible motors and other appurtenances.
