Any public record, or any data obtained by the Department of Insurance, which is subject to public inspection or copying and which is maintained on a computer processible medium, may be furnished in a computer processed or computer processible medium upon the written request of any applicant and the payment of a reasonable fee established by the Director sufficient to cover the total cost of the Department for processing, maintaining and generating such computer processible records or data, except to the extent of any salaries or compensation of Department officers or employees. The Director of Insurance is specifically authorized to contract with members of the public at large, enter waiver agreements, or otherwise enter written agreements for the purpose of assuring public access to the

The Director of Insurance is specifically authorized to contract with members of the public at large, enter waiver agreements, or otherwise enter written agreements for the purpose of assuring public access to the Department's computer processible records or data, or for the purpose of restricting, controlling or limiting such access where necessary to protect the confidentiality of individuals, companies or other entities identified by such documents. All fees collected by the Director under this Section 408.2 shall be deposited in the Technology Management Revolving Fund and credited to the account of the Department of Insurance. Any surplus funds remaining in such account at the close of any fiscal year shall be delivered to the State Treasurer for deposit in the Insurance Financial Regulation Fund.
