Subject to appropriations, the Department, or independent contractual consultants engaged by the Department, shall research possible funding streams for the development and implementation of services for adults with autism spectrum disorders without an intellectual disability. Independent consultants must have expertise in Medicaid services and alternative federal and State funding mechanisms. The research may include, but need not be limited to, research of a Medicaid state plan amendment, a Section 1915(c) home and community based waiver, a Section 1115 research and demonstration waiver, vocational rehabilitation funding, mental health block grants, and other appropriate funding sources.
