September 19 of each year is designated as Preventing Lost Potential Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day set apart to provide a new focus on the importance of and dedication to educate, encourage, protect, and develop our State's youth. The State of Illinois must push to allow all youth to experience life in the fullest, increasing exposure to positive community influences, and enhancing the development of a positive and confident approach to citizenship. This day shall serve as a continued symbol of the movement to make the State of Illinois the best place in the nation for youth.
