In accordance with the Federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, the Commission is designated as the Illinois agency ultimately responsible for the coordination of reviews of Illinois postsecondary institutions in cooperation with the Board of Higher Education, State Board of Education, Department of Professional Regulation, Secretary of State, Department of Transportation and other appropriate State agencies. As such, the Commission is granted the powers and duties necessary for the proper implementation and execution of these functions, including rulemaking. The eligibility of schools to operate in Illinois shall be determined in accordance with audit and review information provided by the Commission to the appropriate State agencies.
