Text
A society may create, maintain, and operate, or may establish organizations to operate,
not-for-profit institutions to further the purposes permitted by section 512B.6, subsection
1, paragraph “a”, subparagraph (2). The institutions may furnish services free or at a
reasonable charge. Any real or personal property owned, held, or leased by the society
for this purpose shall be reported in every annual statement. A not-for-profit institution
so established is a charitable institution with all the rights, benefits, and privileges given
to charitable institutions under the Constitution and laws of the State of Iowa. The
commissioner may adopt appropriate rules and reporting requirements.
