Text
If a person willfully defaces, injures, or removes a signal, monument, building, or other
property of the United States national geodetic survey, or the United States geological survey,
constructedorusedunderthefederallaw,thepersonissubjecttoacivilpenaltynotexceeding
fifty dollars for each offense, and is liable for damages sustained by the United States in
consequence of the defacing, injury, or removal, to be recovered in a civil action in any court
of competent jurisdiction.
