§ 275.14 — Objection — time of filing — notice

1. Within ten days after the petition is filed, the area education agency administrator shall
fix a final date for filing objections to the petition which shall be not more than sixty days
after the petition is filed and shall fix the date for a hearing on the objections to the petition.
Objections shall be filed in the office of the administrator who shall give notice at least ten
days prior to the final day for filing objections, by one publication in a newspaper published
within the territory described in the petition, or if none is published in the territory, in a
newspaper published in the county where the petition is filed, and of general circulation in
the territory described. The notice shall also list the date, time, and location for the hearing
on the petition as provided in section 275.15. The cost of publication shall be assessed to each
district whose territory is involved in the ratio that the number of pupils in basic enrollment
for the budget year, as defined in section 257.6 in each district bears to the total number of
pupils in basic enrollment for the budget year in the total area involved. Objections shall be
in writing in the form of an affidavit and may be made by any person residing or owning
land within the territory described in the petition, or who would be injuriously affected by
the change petitioned for and shall be on file not later than 12:00 noon of the final day fixed
for filing objections.
2. Objection forms shall be prescribed by the department of education and may be
obtained from the area education agency administrator. Objection forms that request that
property be removed from a proposed district shall include the correct legal description of
the property to be removed.
